DO I NEED A PASSPORT FOR MY CRUISE?

We highly recommend that you travel with a passport. If you are a U.S. citizen and your cruise leaves from a U.S. port and returns to the same U.S. port you are not required to have a passport. You can travel with a government-issued ID (required for ages 16 and over only) and an original or certified copy of your birth certificate (not the hospital one). If you are not comfortable with the possibility of delaying a medical evacuation or a catch-up connection from a foreign port until the US Embassy can provide you with a valid passport then you need a passport for peace of mind.

WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT TRAVELING WITH MINORS?

When you're traveling with a minor and one or both parents or legal guardians won't be traveling with you, we highly recommend bringing an original, signed letter from the absent parent(s) or legal guardians.  This letter serves as official authorization for the minor to travel with you, contributing to a more streamlined process.

If there is no second parent with legal claims to the minor, (due to sole custody, unfortunate circumstances, etc.) rest assured. You may substitute the signed letter with other pertinent documentation such as a court decision, death certificate, or a birth certificate that explicitly names only one parent. This will expedite processing by the Department of Homeland Security.

WHY SHOULD I BUY TRAVEL INSURANCE?

Travel insurance can protect you against unforeseen circumstances that can disrupt your plans.  Key benefits include reimbursement for nonrefundable expenses if you have to cancel due to a covered illness, injury or death of a traveling companion or family member, or an unexpected covered injury or illness while traveling requires you to receive medical care.  This is particularly important if you're traveling overseas.  In many cases, U.S. medical insurance is not accepted outside the U.S.  Protection can also include canceled services that may leave you stranded at the airport for an extended period and you incur meal or lodging expenses as a result.
